Lea Birringer was only fourteen when she made her debut as soloist with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. At the young age of 25 she has already established a reputation as violinist and is highly in demand both as soloist and chamber musician. Lea Birringer has already performed in venues like the “Laeiszhalle” in Hamburg, the “Musikverein” in Vienna, the “Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino” in Florence and at the festival “AlpenKLASSIK” in Bad Reichenhall. In 2008 Lea Birringer performed specially for the German Chancellor Angela Merkel when she was awarded with the International Charlemagne Prize of the City of Aachen (“Internationaler Karlspreis der Stadt Aachen”).
Her long list of various achievements includes international prizes at competitions “Kloster Schöntal”, “Premio Rodolfo Lipizer”, “Louis Spohr” and the first prize, with full marks, at the federal competition “Jugend musiziert” as well as countless special awards. In 2008 she won the First Price, between 84 participants, at the “International competition Johannes Brahms” in Austria.
For those extraordinary accomplishments she was honored by her hometown Saarbruecken with the “Cultural Prize for young artists”. This spring Lea and her sister Esther (1983, piano) have been a show-stopper when they both won the international chamber music competitions “Premio Vittorio Gui” and “Concorso Internazionale di Musica da Camera Città di Pinerolo” in succession, including a special award for the best interpretation of Brahms. Numerous concerts are scheduled for Italy such as performances at the festival “Palermo Classica”, in the “Teatro Vittorio” in Turin and in the “Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino” in Florence, thereby they focus on the recital of seldom performed works like sonatas by Karol Szymanowski and Paul Hindemith as well as the 24 preludes by the young composer Lera Auerbach.
Since February 2005 Lea Birringer plays an instrument by Gianbattista Ceruti, Cremona ca. 1800 which by the German Musical Instruments Fund.
Born 1986 in Quierschied (Germany), Lea Birringer started playing the violin at the age of three. While still in school she was admitted into the class for highly talented students at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. After her A-levels she started her studies with the renowned Professor Igor Ozim and graduated with honor. At present she continues her studies with Professor Pavel Vernikov at the Conservatory in Vienna.
