Konzertdirektion H. Daniel

Conciertos Daniel is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious artist representation agencies. Founded in 1908 in Berlin by entrepreneur Ernesto De Quesada under the name Konzertdirektion H. Daniel, it was born with a pioneering vision: to bring the most outstanding artists of its time to the great international stages and to open new pathways for the circulation of music and the arts.

With the outbreak of the First World War, the agency relocated to Madrid and adopted the name Conciertos Daniel, quickly establishing itself as a bridge between Europe and the rest of the world. From that moment on, its work became a key platform for some of the 20th century’s most brilliant musicians to project their art on an international scale.

Among the names that have marked the agency's history are the famous composer Richard Strauss and legendary pianists such as Claudio Arrau, Arthur Rubinstein, Alexander Brailowsky, Alicia de Larrocha, Friedrich Gulda, Emil Gilels, Edwin Fischer, George Enescu, György Cziffra, György Sándor, Rafael Orozco, Vladimir Horowitz, and José Iturbi; guitar virtuosos Andrés Segovia and Narciso Yepes; renowned violinists and conductors like Yehudi Menuhin and Jascha Heifetz; flautist Jean-Pierre Rampal; sopranos Montserrat Caballé and Grace Moore; cellist Gaspar Cassadó; conductor Eugene Ormandy; and influential composers and musicians such as Claude Bolling and Nicanor Zabaleta, the world’s foremost harpist of his time.

But the legacy of Conciertos Daniel extended far beyond soloists. The agency represented and promoted major orchestras, ballet companies, and international ensembles, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Ballet of Spain, the Royal Ballet of Cambodia, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet of Canada, and the historic Russian Ballet, as well as innovative stage productions such as the Salzburg Marionette Theater.

During the Spanish Civil War and the Second World War, the agency shifted much of its activity to Latin America, becoming an essential driver of the region’s cultural life. It was there that many audiences discovered these great performers for the first time, and where lasting bonds between European music and Latin American audiences were forged.

With more than 120 years of history, Conciertos Daniel has been both witness to and protagonist of the evolution of music and the performing arts worldwide. It has accompanied celebrated artists as well as young talents who later became international references, always with the same purpose: to spread art with excellence and to build bridges between creators and their audiences.

Today, the agency continues this living tradition, renewing its commitment to promoting world-class artists and fostering new audiences, ensuring that music and the arts remain universal languages that inspire both present and future.
